You HAVE to see this paint-inspired fabric! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

We have a fabulous new collection in the shop this week.

We received Zen Garden from Stephanie Brandenburg. Stephanie has been designing fabric for years, but recently partnered with Northcott Fabrics for the printing and distribution of her brand Frond Design Studios.

Stephanie is a painter first and all over her fabric collections are inspired by the boldly colored nature-scapes she creates first with paint and brush. Zen Garden is no exception to the bold beauty she is known for and it is a must add to your collection.

We also created new kits for our most popular bag pattern ...

This fabric collection is a must have! My favorite colors + gold metallic accents .. from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

This week’s new arrivals are amazing! I cannot get over the rich beauty of Luminosity by Deborah Edwards for Northcott Fabrics.

The teals, dark blues and greens combined with gold metallic accents make it my favorite color palette of all time. Plus the butterfly and peacock feather images, with a beautiful panel are just gorgeous.

You absolutely will love the two prints where the design runs from one selvedge edge to the other. Both are just begging to be used in a special way, like borders or quilt backing.

And for something completely different we have Tutu Much Attitude ...

Quilted Features: Quilt Basket & Cutie Patterns from Terificreations's Weblog

Today begins a new, long term series Quilted Features, this will cover all the interesting things I would have covered at Quilt Market. I’m slowly reaching out to companies who were going to vend at Quilt Market for an opportunity to show off their wares, new fabric lines, notions, patterns, or the quilt/sewing related things… Continue reading Quilted Features: Quilt Basket & Cutie Patterns

DreamScapes – OBW #87 & Quad 60 from If These Threads Could Talk

I have had this panel by Artisan Spirit Dreamscapes by Ira Kennedy for Northcott for several years. The Dreamscapes panel measures 13″ x 20″. It came two in a panel, so I ended up with 14.

I partially completed the first set of 7 panels to show how to add the sections to the panel. I save this OBW classes.

I finally decided to complete the 2nd set of panels. I cut the strips 2 3/4″ for 4″ finished hexies. In hind site I wish I would have made them smaller. To add more hexies and enhance the hexies ...

Radioactive from If These Threads Could Talk

I obviously can’t get enough of 60 degree triangles. I decided to take a break from One Block Wonders to play with my Star 60 Tool and make Radioactive by Deb Tucker.

Shimmer Radiance

Northcott Fabrics provided me with Shimmer Radiance by Deborah Edwards. These fabrics are so beautiful with a soft luscious hand and saturated colors.

Radioactive uses Star 60 units for 12″ and 6″ triangle blocks. First I cut my side triangles for my 12″ Star 60 units, then the 6″ units.

Then I cut my Diamonds using my Star 60 tool.

6′ & 12″ Star ...

Too Coo’ for School: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Pigeon patchwork block colours at Clever Chameleon

School’s out for a fortnight. Time to play!

The Chameleon’s on Term break. The Arkaroola “school house” is closed. The tables have been reclaimed as sewing spaces. It’s time to catch up on some sewing, writing and other activities that have been on the backburner so long that they might just have mutated into new life forms.

To celebrate, I’ve started with sewing the next batch of blocks for my Garden Party quilt. Did you catch last week’s quilt blocks in the “It’s A Garden Party” row along and blog hop? I released my ...

Yellow Butterfly Hijinks: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Yellow Butterfly Hijinks colour board at Clever Chameleon

The little blue flower that started a neighbourhood dispute…..

Or was it the yellow butterfly? Or someone else entirely…..?

Watching the local pollinators compete, you would be forgiven for thinking that flowers are scarce in Arkaroola right now. Which, I think you probably get the idea: they are not. The cooler weather, plus the months elapsed since our big rain, has resulted in a bloom of both flowers and insects. Wanted and otherwise.

But apparently some flower locales are more desirable than other blooming addresses. Even within the best Cattle Bush Restaurants there appears to be premium tables where the ...

Fast, Beginner-Friendly Fat Quarter Pattern Modern Rainbow Bargello – Reflection from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

The design for Reflection came to me in the middle of the night while feeding my newborn daughter. It was back when life was normal, and I thought a rainbow bargello would be a fantastic way to highlight the beautiful color transitions in Midsommar by Pippa Shaw for Figo.

Now that we are all stuck indoors for the foreseeable future, I feel like a bright rainbow quilt is the perfect antidote to the blues that can come with social distancing. And since it is a quick project, you can snuggle under it and feel better soon when it is done ...

The Tree of Wisdom – OBW #74 from If These Threads Could Talk

The fabrics shown in this post were given to me by Northcott Fabrics.

I just couldn’t help my myself. I love trees, and these are my colors!

When I saw this panel I just had to make a One Block Wonder (OBW). The Tree of Wisdom fabric line was designed by Kerry Darlington for Northcott Fabrics. Tree of Wisdom can be found at your local quilt shop and at Keepsake Quilting.

When I approach making a OBW using panels, the first thing I want to know is how wide the panel is. This panel is 24″ including the borders ...
